Grouchy kids......Grouchy Momma!

Oh sometimes I love three-day weekends but then other's I'm just like "Oh was that worth it???" Taylor spent the night at a friend's house on Sunday night and I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop the sleepovers the night before a school night. She's just to tired the next day!! And trust me, I know it's going to bust her bubble big time, but she's got to know that her sleep is more important to me then her fun!! =) hee hee!! So, I've got three grouchy kids and that makes the momma a little grouchy this morning too.

I'm just not a morning person at all........and I've told ya'll before the bad thing about our God is He is totally a morning person!! But none the less, here I am, ready for the Lord to speak. Our church is doing this study called Divine Encounters, I think you've heard me mention it before. It's a study on the Old testament. Well, on Sunday I knew I'd be loving on those babies in the nursery so I didn't bother to do this last weeks study......shame on me, I know!

But WOW, this morning I started it and I'm glad I did, because I see that the "homework" isn't going to take as much time as I thought it would, in fact I should have no problem catching up this week's and last week's work. This study begins in Matthew, the Beatitudes. Which, is so ironic because I had just looked at one of the those last week......the "Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." I think I want to just stop right there and talk about this word "blessed", because I think we (myself included) tend to throw that word around as much as "how are you? fine....." I mean, I think sometimes we say it but don't really understand the meaning.

The first place obviously that I want to tell you about is what my commentary in my bible says about this word. "Blessed........the word means more than happy, because happiness is an emotion often dependent on out-ward circumstances. Blessed here refers to the ultimate well-being and distinctive spiritual joy of those who share in the salvation of the kingdom of God." Ok, now let's look at the dictionary's definition of this word..........–verb (used with object), blessed or blest, bless·ing.
1. to consecrate or sanctify by a religious rite; make or pronounce holy.
2. to request of God the bestowal of divine favor on: Bless this house.
3. to bestow good of any kind upon: a nation blessed with peace.
4. to extol as holy; glorify: Bless the name of the Lord.
5. to protect or guard from evil (usually used interjectional): Bless you! Bless your innocent little heart!
6. to condemn or curse: I'll be blessed if I can see your reasoning. Bless me if it isn't my old friend!
7. to make the sign of the cross over or upon: The Pope blessed the multitude
.

I couldn't help but laugh as I think to myself only in the south do we say, "Bless your little heart".......I so could not see some New Yorker walking down the street saying, "Bless your little heart my friend!!" hee hee!! no offense Dawn!! =) But, I'm not to sure I like this definition as much as I do the Bible's. When I read the part that says, "Ultimate well-being......" that is where I began my oh so deep thoughts on this!!

I'm the type of person that I just can't ever have it all straight.....I can't have my whole house clean, a shower and a home-cooked meal all in one day! It just never seems to happen.......or I'm to busy and I have to many things going on or I have nothing going on......you know what I'm saying??? But when I think of this "Ultimate well-being" oh that phrase just makes you want to shout! How awesome to know that this word blessed.......how we pass it along to other's so freely, we are encouraging them to experience this ULTIMATE happiness, ULTIMATE love, ULTIMATE joy..........

much later 3pm......sorry, first day of pre-school and two friends over for a visit all day!! =) didn't have time to finish!! Have a blessed REST of this day!! Oh Lord, YES I will be up earlier tomorrow!!!

Glad you had a great day.
I agree sometimes you need a day to get over a day off.
You know what I want?
A day when I actually feel like sleeping in and I can sleep in. No one to cook breakfast for. No, maybe someone could fix breakfast for me and then I could go back to sleep if I want.
Dreaming........I think I am tired. Talk to ya tomorrow.

Scott Laws spoke at our staff meeting today and he said blessed means "FULLY SATISFIED" He suggested rereading the Beattitudes and replacing them word blessed with "FULLY SATISFIED" - it is not the movers and shakers that idolized here on Earth that will inherit the kingdom - it is those who are gentle. Great meeting today - could have listened to him all day.
Great blog!
