Stop thief!

I just HAVE to share this story with all of you. We have a THIEF in our family whose name is Ms.Hope Ann. I am so at my wits end with this child! The other day Kris had two $20 bills sitting on the counter, they were payment for a guy who had helped him work. Well, I noticed the money sitting there but I really didn't pay much attention to it. But, I did notice that there was $40 sitting there the first time I looked and then only $20 the next time. I asked the girls if they knew where the money was and they both looked at me with such sincerity and said, NO we have no idea. So, I just figured Kris took it or something. Well, Kris comes home and he says, WHO TOOK THE OTHER $20??? (While he's staring at ME) I was like, Don't you dare look at me, I thought YOU took it. (I can see him getting hot) So, he asks the girls if they saw it and they both SWORE they did not see it or take it. So Kris says, Ok well everyone better start looking for it, because I need it! So Taylor and I begin looking on the floor all over and I see out of the corner of my eye Hope walking right over to a basket that I keep Kennedy's toys in, AMAZINGLY she pulls the $20 bill out and says with FEAR in her eyes, "It must have blown over here, I don't know.........." and she hands her daddy a crumbled up $20 bill and BUSTS into tears. And STILL denies taking it. I was like OH MY what are we going to do??? First she steals and now she's lying about it, even after the evidence is out! So, while Kris and I hid our faces from laughter, I told her that this was very serious. Kris gave her a spanking and then she must have cried for an hour...............!!!!

So then I go into Hope's room to clean up some things and I find ALL kinds of stuff. Kennedy's clothes (that I'd been looking for), Taylor's jewelry and MONEY!!! I asked Hope why she took all these things and she said she didn't know............Then more tears!!!! Oh my.............What am I to do about this ya'll??? I certainly don't want Hope to steal things and I REALLY don't want her to lie about things. Why does she feel the need to do this??? It MUST be something with the middle child syndrome!!! But it's not like Hope doesn't have nice things, she has just as much as Taylor. Ok so all you middle children and momma's with middle children, speak up! Some advice PLEASE!!!!!

Bible study was so great last night, we really ended things on a good note. I'm excited to see where God takes us next! Thanks ladies!!

I decided to go back on Weight Watchers, I'm not excited about it, but I know it works. My accountability partner and I are going to do it together. So, today was Day 1. I went to the Y this morning which I had a good work out with my friend Sheila, it's good to have someone else there with you! Well, I guess I'd better go, the day is half way over! Have a blessed day!

Nikki,
Creative Corrections has some very excellent ideas for creative punishments/corrections - I will copy the pages on lying/stealing and send them to you tomorrow. I bought it to help with the big issues - I know that Jamws Widemen "The Family Night" guy recommends prominsing the dishonest one something great, really building it up, then when the date and time arrives - telling them "Oh, I was just teasing you - I guess I was lying to you." Follow up with: "That's how we feel when you are dishonest with us." I will send you some of Lisa Welchel's ideas tomorrow. Know that it is a normal stage of child development...challenging although it may be. But normal. Have a great night.
